  • Parents & Friends

Formed in 1952, Fairholme’s P&F is a support group designed to provide assistance to the students of Fairholme College through betterment of the educational environment.

It also provides a friend-raising and networking forum for parents. This occurs in a diversity of ways - through attendance at meetings, serving at school-based events, fundraising, and generally through taking interest in school activities.

  • Friends of Junior School

Friends of Junior School (FOJS) seeks to support the work of the Junior School in enhancing the educational environment for all Kindy, Prep and Junior students.

Equally, the FOJS group provides an important friend-family-community network and forum for parents.

FOJS falls under the umbrella of the Fairholme College P&F and was established as a support network for parents and friends of Junior School students.

    FOJS: Monthly Meetings:

The meetings (Second Tuesday of every month from 6pm in the New Chapel) are a great opportunity to meet other parents and to find out what is happening in the Junior School.

    Meetings usually involve:

    • A discussion of up-coming junior events;

Planning for fundraising activities and social occasions such as the Ladies and Lassies High Tea event each year and stalls at Athletics and Swimming events.

We are always looking for new and different ideas for the year and invite you to please join us for a  chat.

Each class has one parent who volunteers to be Class Ambassador for the year.

    The Class Ambassadors:

    • Organise volunteers for fundraising days your class has adopted, as well as
    • Arrange occasional parent and student social events.

These social events are simply opportunities for families to meet and make connections. Ideas for consideration include:

    • A picnic in the park
    • Dinner night
    • Pool play date
    • Parents getting together for a coffee after a morning drop-off.

Engaging with class arranged informal get-togethers, as well as supporting your classes’ fundraising event are great opportunities to meet other families and establish great friendships and networks within your child’s year level family cohort.

The FOJS team will be there to give ideas and support throughout the year.

  • Friends of Boarding

The Friends of Boarding seek to support the school in its aim to create a safe, nurturing and enjoyable ‘home away from home’ for our boarder girls.

The Friends of Boarding also represent an important communication link between boarders, their families and the school. The group meets regularly and is actively involved in working with staff to make the students’ time at the College a happy and rewarding experience.

Like the P&F, the Friends of Boarding also provide a fundraising and networking forum for parents. Current boarder parents are involved in the FoB Boarder Parent Ambassador Program, assisting at College Orientation days etc., supporting new boarding families’ transition into the Fairholme ‘family’. At times, this group assists in P&F fundraising activities most notably, its long tradition of running the Boarder Cent sale at the annual Spring Fair.

Parents are invited to attend meetings throughout the year as advised by the committee.

  • Supporters of Fairholme Arts

SOFA is a parent initiative that aims to support, assist, encourage and develop The Arts at Fairholme College, by way of moral and material support.

This assistance may be as simple as providing a plate for supper, acting as hosts or manning the door at various Arts-related events. Admission to many events is by gold coin donation and these funds are reinvested back into the support and development of The Arts by SOFA.

If you wish your daughter to receive private voice/ instrumental music/ speech & drama with qualified staff at Fairholme College, you will notice on the bottom of the tuition forms there are questions as to how involved you wish to become in support of SOFA.

For example, you may indicate whether you wish to be contacted if help is needed and you may choose to receive minutes of the meetings. You are also most welcome at our group if your daughter undertakes private lessons outside of the College.

    Governance

SOFA is a sub-group of the Fairholme College P&F, and therefore falls under the constitution of the P&F. SOFA reports to each P&F meeting in both written and verbal format.

The SOFA executive (President, Secretary and Treasurer) are drawn from the parent body and are elected at the first meeting of each calendar year.

Supporters of Fairholme Art (SOFA) is open to any member of the Fairholme community with an interest in supporting the Arts.

    SOFA Meeting Invitation

The next SOFA meeting will be held on Tuesday evening, 6 March, from 6.30-7.30pm in Room P22 of the Patrea O’Shea Arts Building.

If your daughter is engaged in the Arts (Dance, Drama, Choral Music, Instrumental Music, Visual Art, Sound & Lighting, Debating or Public Speaking), we would be thrilled if you would join us. As the name suggests, SOFA is a parent group that provides assistance and support for the myriad of Arts programs on offer at Fairholme, fostering interest in the recitals, concerts, exhibitions and presentation evenings and celebrates the work of students within the Arts. The meeting provides information about upcoming events and an opportunity to connect with other parents whose daughters are involved in The Arts.
