The wellbeing of young people is at the heart of our College’s philosophy, as such, Fairholme College is committed to Child Safe practices, but this is a shared responsibility: staff, students, parents, and caregivers all have a responsibility to report harm.
It means that if we observe, experience, or hear of a situation where a young person is placed at risk then we have an obligation to report that information, promptly.
Adults employed by the College, are in a position of trust and must accept their responsibility to respect the professional boundaries associated with such a role.
If a young person is in immediate danger call 000, immediately.
If you are placed in a situation with an adult where you feel harmed, uncomfortable, or unsafe or if you observe a situation where you see a young person harmed, uncomfortable, or unsafe in the company of an adult, then you are asked to report that information with immediacy.
You may tell a trusted adult, report via #stymie or contact the Police. The important action is to share concerns, confidentially but quickly.
If you observe an interaction or interactions that you believe cross professional boundaries, or if you are aware that your own behaviour has crossed professional boundaries then you are required to report, with immediacy, to your line manager or Principal.
It may be necessary for you to contact the Police or Child Safety, Seniors, and Disability Services, directly. The important action is to share concerns, confidentially but quickly.
If you observe an interaction or interactions where a coach/teacher crosses professional boundaries or if a young person reports to you that they have been placed in a situation with an adult where they feel harmed, uncomfortable, or unsafe then you are required to report, with immediacy, to a trusted College employee or to the College Principal.
It may be necessary for you to contact the Police or Child Safety, Seniors, and Disability Services, directly. The important action is to share concerns, confidentially but quickly.
